Course contents

  • Work environment in a traditional and a new workplaces

  • methods regarded to fulfil the obligations of the employer and the employees

  • the instruments of publik authorities and other institutions

  • qualitative and quantitative methods for developing a work environment

Learning outcomes

The student shall be able to describe and identify different sociological approaches. The students are also able to define the legal requirements cocerning health, safety an environment (HSE). Identify and compare implementation of HSE in different formal and informal settings, especially related to organizational and mental well-being in the work place. The student will be prepared to use different methods in order to develop participation and social well-being in the work place.

Examination requirements

Participation in compulsory meetings and activities.

Teaching methods

Lectures, group work and case studies.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

4-hour individual written examination counts 60%. A group assignment (hand-in) counts 40% of the final grade, and the group as a whole is graded. Grading by letters for both exams.
