NorwegianPrerequisites
40 ECTS credits in Nordic language and literature or the equivalent. Students must be able to follow lessons in Norwegian and read textbooks in Norwegian, Swedish and Danish.
Course contents
The course provides students with a deep level of insight into literary theories and methods and trains students in reflecting upon literature's characteristics as an art form. Students will also acquire knowledge about analyzing images and visual media in order to learn methods for analyzing and interpreting multimedia texts. The syllabus content reflects the course's theoretical elements.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, students will have acquired knowledge about literary theories and methods as well as the ability to utilize this knowledge in practical analysis. They will also have knowledge about the analysis of images and visual media in order to complete a professional interpretation of multimedia texts. Students will also acquire a broad knowledge of Nordic (especially Norwegian) literature along with the necessary skills to write in a theoretical and reflective way about their reading.
Examination requirements
An approved oral presentation or equivalent assignment. More informasjon is given at the beginning of the course.
Teaching methods
Lectures and group work. The workload is estimated to about 400 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
Assessment methods and criteria
Individual 2-week home examination. Graded assessment. The assignment is to be written in Norwegian or in another Scandinavian language (Danish or Swedish). Evaluation will be based on academic content, communicative ability and satisfactory language use.
Other information
The course is not included in any study programme at the University. The course code is intended for exchange students needing to acquire 15 ECTS credits (or more) in Norwegian education at their home institution. This course does not comprise a component of the Norwegian teacher education programme.
