Teaching methods

Supervision is an essential component in the work with the master's thesis and must be planned so that the student is in contact with his/her supervisor during all stages of the research process. Supervision ensures that the student is provided with necessary knowledge about the research process and entails a necessary quality assurance in the collection and processing of data, and also that this takes place within research ethical guidelines. Ten hours of supervision are compulsory. Parts of the supervision may also take place in a group. A contract of supervision is signed with the faculty. Throughout the work with the master's thesis the student will participate in compulsory seminars. See the course pamphlet for a detailed summary.

The course has an expected workload of 810 hours.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

The master¿s thesis can be either an individual piece of work or be carried out in groups of up to three students. The examination also contains an individual adjusting oral examination. The student receives a grade on the master¿s thesis. This grade may be adjusted one grade up or down depending on the oral presentation and discussion about thesis.

For more details see the faculty¿s guidelines for the master¿s degree.
