Course contents

The bachelor thesis is a mandatory part of the bachelor degree in industrial mathematics. Application of mathematics is emphasized, as well as oral and written presentation of mathematics. This includes access to library and database services, and correct usage and referencing of sources.

In the seminar part some topics in the theory of science are dealt with, such as experience and knowledge, hypothetico-deductive inference, the falsification criterion, the demarcation problem, research programmes, paradigm shifts, and science as a power structure.

The students will familiarize themselves with a problem, as a rule within industrial mathematics. The project plan will then be presented orally to an audience of fellow students and supervisors. The bachelor thesis should be written in LaTeX.
