The purpose is to give the student insight and understanding of a specific organization's needs and processes related to an IT-related project. Projects are related to work, to the acquisition, use of an information system, including system development, procurement, operation or maintenance of various types of IT and information systems..
The projects can be carried out in public or private sector organisations. It is also possible to carry out projects in the voluntary sector. By working for a long time on a specific task in an organization, the student should gain insight into practical problem solving in a job situation. The content of the course is determined by the organization's needs and in accordance with the agreement entered into between the organization and the students.
The content of the project shall be academically relevant to the bachelor's programme in IT and information systems. Examples of current tasks include:

various activities related to system development including from reparation of business plan to implementation, and coursing end users

analysis and design

programming
-
installation, operation and maintenance of systems, databases, networks and similar
Learning outcomes
On completing the course, the student should:

have practical skills and experiences in various aspects related to information systems, like procurement, development, introduction and training

develop an understanding of what is expected of knowledge and practical skills in a job situation

Understanding the interaction between organisation, finance, informationsystem and Employees
Examination requirements
Signed agreement between business, student and department of information systems. Mandatory participation in collections must be passed. Further information is provided in Canvas at the start of the semester
Teaching methods
The student works in a company or organization corresponding to one and a half days a week throughout the semester. The internship can be individual or several students together. This must be clarified with the course coordinator in advance.
The Department of Information Systems collaborates with a number of companies and organizations and the semester before completion will facilitate that students can apply for available internships, but can not guarantee internships for everyone who applies. However, students can also find an internship themselves, and the department then encourages them to follow the guidelines that are published in Canvas.
Compulsory gatherings are arranged with the main emphasis on exchanging experiences between the students, and individual guidance will be offered. In the latest collection, students present their experiences to clients and other interested parties.
Normal workload is 270 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Individual folder evaluation where presentation, diary and project report are included. Grade passed/not passed. Further information is provided at the start of the semester.There is no possibilty for postponed examination in this course.
