Recommended prerequisites

The course requires a level of knowledge as is covered in the course IND416-G Project Management and -Planning. Recommended level of knowledge as covered in the courses IND419-G Engineering Management and IND418-G Lean Production. We recommend that IND422-G Risk Management course is studied concurrently. This is an advanced level course within project management, and emphasizes comprehensive managerial and business perspectives on project-based industries.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student should know how to:

  • Identify and analyze customer needs and match them with appropriate products and services

  • Select an appropriate delivery model for a specific project

  • Apply agile and selected advanced methods for project execution

  • Be aware of new opportunities and markets for sustainability innovation, resilient infrastructure and industrial development.

  • Promote and communicate strategies and practices of sustainable project management and delivery (especially Sustainable Development Goals 9 and 12).

  • Analyze the governance processes in a project-based firm

  • Evaluate the competences needed in a project-based firm

Teaching methods

The course includes lectures, reading material, practical assignments done both individually and in groups. It requires continuous work throughout the semester. Further information will be provided in Canvas. The expected workload of the course is 200 hours.

Evaluation

The Head of study programme, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

Individually home examen over ca. 2 weeks. Letter grades.
