Course contents

  • Positioning a research challenge

  • Getting support from stake holders

  • Applying rigorous research methodologies

  • Writing a convincing and well-structured proposal

  • Defining a project budget

  • Setting up and managing a project

  • Meeting personal and inter-personal challenges

  • Marketing and communicating project findings

  • Successfully ending a project.

 

All students will work on a full proposal, continuously improve it, and finally submit it to a selected research program. The course will help students to communicate their research activities more clearly and concisely for future publications and for their final PhD thesis.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is expected to:

  • Have an understanding how to plan and structure a scientific project

  • Be able to write a scientific project application

  • Be able to lead and manage a project team

Teaching methods

3 gatherings of 3 days each or alternatively 1 gathering of 1 week

Assessment methods and criteria

Evaluation of written report (completed project proposal, ready for submission).
Grade: Pass/Fail
