The student will:

demonstrate advanced knowledge about the experiences and reactions related to acute and/or critical illness

demonstrate advanced knowledge about communication and collaboration with patients and their relatives

demonstrate advanced knowledge about how organs and organ systems function in relation to eachother and how pathophysiological processes and medical illness conditions arise, develop and are treated

demonstrate advanced knowledge of current topics in hygiene, microbiology, pathophysiology, paediatrics, neo-natal medicine and surgery

demonstrate advanced knowledge about current topics in paediatric nursing relating to preventing complications, reducing stress, and relieving suffering, pain and discomfort, as well as treatment and rehabilitation

demonstrate advanced knowledge about family-centred nursing
Skills

be able to analyse, show contexts and integrate medical and natural science subjects as a basis for academically justifiable paediatric nursing

Examination requirements
At least 80% attendance of compulsory classes is required.
Teaching methods
Lectures, simulations, group work and independent study.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
The examination is in two parts:

5 hour individual written examination (counts 60%)

take-home examination - individual written assignment of about 3000 words (three days, counts 40%)
Both parts must be passed. A joint grade (A-F) is awarded.
