The student:

Knowledge

  • demonstrates broad knowledge of the most common symptoms, illnesses, disease course and treatment

  • demonstrates knowledge of children and young people's normal development and specific needs, including knowledge of participation and rights

  • demonstrates knowledge of the tools and methods to drive innovation processes, implementation and continuous improvement work

Skills

  • is able to use relationship, communication, teaching and tutoring skills in meeting children and their families, as well as children as relatives

  • is able to talk with children about issues such as neglect, violence and abuse

  • is able to participate in interdisciplinary and cross-professional collaboration

General competence

  • is able to plan and implement nursing care for children with acute, critical and chronic illness as well as children and adolescents with comprehensive and complex needs in the primary and specialist health care

Teaching methods

The working methods are seminars, simulation and exercises in the clinic laboratory, group work, lectures and self-study.

The scope of work in the course is estimated to 135 hours.

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Assessment methods and criteria

Written project report in group. Assessed as pass / fail.
