This course focuses on understanding and applying central concepts and practices of organizing and managing projects within the fine arts industry. It includes conventional and modern approaches for initiating, planning, executing, and closing projects. Project related subjects such as project controlling, procurement, contract managementand examples of integrating the UN Sustainability Goals (# 12) into project work are also included. The course provides the students with an analytical framework for the specifics of project management, with special emphasis on practical relevance.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to
- Recognize and compare a project and project-based activities in relation to other organizational activities
- Relate projects to the strategic objectives of an organization and develop appropriate goals
- Apply both conventional and modern techniques for planning, executing and controlling projects
- Consider organizational and managerial aspects of project execution
- Analyse and communicate the status and progress of a project and apply appropriate corrective measures
- Prepare a project closure report and evaluate the success of a project
- Apply techniques needed to manage project controlling and make proper assessments
- Assess risk and budgeting in order to improve results and outcomes

Teaching methods
The course is comprised of lectures, videos, presentations, and project assignments. The students will work in groups and individually. Further information will be made available in Canvas at the start of the semester. The course has an expected work load of approximately 400 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the course will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria
Portfolio assessment accounts for 60% of the grade. 4 hour written individual exam accounts for 40% of the grade. Graded assessment. Further information will be made available in Canvas at the start of the semester.
