Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, the student should:

  • have a solid understanding of relevant theoretical approaches and academic disciplines surrounding the study of the cultural industries.

  • understand state-of-art international research on the field and to be able to use this in practical work.

  • have advanced knowledge about the structures, economics and work conditions in the cultural industries and how these factors affect the production and distribution of creative content.

  • have advanced understanding of current changes in the cultural industries, and the effects of these

  • understand digitalisation and digital change

  • understand the structures and dynamics of different cultural industries and in particular the music industry

Examination requirements

The student will submit one written term paper throughout the course. The term paper must be passed before taking the exam. An overview of the work load will be presented in Canvas at the start of the semester.

Attendance is mandatory.

Teaching methods

The course will use lectures and group-work. Estimated student workload in this course is 27 hours per ECTS credits.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

A 5-days individual take-home exam.
