IND415-G Development and organizational learning are taken either before or in parallel with this topic.
Course contents
The course sheds light on key topics and terminology related to the project management subject, such as initiation, planning, implementation, follow-up, profit realization and project models.
The course consists of a relatively broad base and an introduction is given to both internal and external projects. The course has both a theoretical and practical dimension. For example, we work in groups with a project assignment based on a game / simulation called "The Project Management Game" (PM Game). Here, students get the chance to try their hand as a project manager and must, among other things, use techniques for planning, implementation and follow-up of projects in order to succeed.
In addition, an introduction is given to organizational project management and decision-making systems, ie how organizations can utilize internal project decision-making tools for strategic change, continuous improvement and innovation
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student will know how to:

Recognize and describe a project and project-based activities in relation to organization.

Explain key consepts and activities of each phase of a project's life cycle.

Critically evaluate different contexts for projects and then construct a project model adapted to the context.

Examination requirements
Approved group work is a requirement. The group work requirement is relatet to the project game.
Teaching methods
The course is taught through videos, digital games and simulations, assignments in Canvas, as well as full day seminars , self study and group work. Further information will be given in Canvas. The course has a work scope of 200 hours.
Evaluation
The Head of study programme, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
Portfolio assessment in groups counts 100% of final grade. The group as a whole is graded. Letter grades. Further information is available in Canvas.
New/postponed examination will be carried out as individual written two weeks home examination and counts 100% of the final grade. Letter grades.
