Teaching language

This course is taught in Norwegian and an English translation of the course description is not available.

Recommended prerequisites

Some parts of the study programme require high training intensity and it is advisable that students are in good physical condition. Parts of the teaching will take place in water/at sea, which requires the ability to swim.

  • Activities theory team sports:

    • Football

    • Basketball

    • Handball

    • Volleyball

    • Indoor bandy

  • Activities theory individual sports:

    • Athletics

    • Swimming

    • Orienteering

    • Dance

    • Cross country skiing

    • Other ski sports: alpine skiing, Telemark, snowboard

    • Gymnastics

  • Other activities:

    • Life saving/firstaid/sports injuries

    • Coast/Outdoor activities (paddling, sailing, rowing)

    • Outdoor Winter activities (overnight stops depends on weather)

    • Ice skating and bandy

    • Ski play

Activity theory will serve as both a basis and as a specific arena for the more theoretical subjects in the study programme.

The course IDR110 will be under continuous assessment and development, and activities offered may be subject to change. Instruction in winter- and coastal outdoor activities will always be given.

 

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student will:

  • have basic skills in first-aid, life saving and sports injuries

  • have basic knowledge about the characteristics of a minimum of three different individual- and team sports

  • have an insight into basic theory of training and be able to plan, carry out and evaluate activities within selected sports

  • have basic skills in selected sports

  • have basic skills as a supervisor in selected sports

 

 

Examination requirements

Attendance requirements in practical sports activities must be met. Requirements for participation, knowledge and skills in the various sports/activities are described in the course brochure.

Teaching methods

Lectures, practical work, projects and seminars. The course assumes a great deal of self study.

Compulsory attendance requirements in practical sports (a minimum of 80% attendance).

Estimated student work load is about 540 hours.

 

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

The student must pass both the following examinations:

Mid term examination

Individual assessment is related to training practice. During the study programme the student must plan, implement, record and evaluate training for an athlete in one or several of the sports. Requirements for the training project are described in the course brochure. Counts 40%.

End of term examination

A 5-hour written individual examination in Theory of training and Activities theory. Counts 60% of the final grade.

One final grade will be given.
