Course contents
The course will introduce students to the linguistic structure of English words. The introductory part of the course is concerned with the basic terms and concepts in morphological analysis. The inflectional morphology and derivational morphology of present-day English will be introduced, and we will consider the relationship of morphology to both phonology and semantics. In addition, the sources of English vocabulary will be studied, especially the influence of Germanic and Romance languages.
