The course aims to help students develop good comprehensive language skills in business and administrative English. The course comprises communicative strategies for speaking and writing, with a particular view to enhance students' awareness of genre, register and appropriate vocabulary. Students will learn English grammatical conventions necessary for the production of business documents.
Learning outcomes
At the completion of this course the students shall:

be able to use appropriate communicative strategies for speaking and writing English in a business context

be able to compose various types of business documents

know how to prepare and deliver an oral presentation

be able to use an appropriate register, vocabulary and grammar in spoken and written communication

be able to describe, illustrate and analyze intercultural problems that may arise in business situations
Examination requirements
One written assignment and one oral presentation must be assessed as Pass.
Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars. Oral presentations. Estimated work-load: Approximately 200 hours.

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria
4-hour written examination. You are allowed to use English-English dictionary on the exam. Graded assessment.
