The course provides knowledge about religious texts in Jewish, Christian and Muslim tradition, and the students will be presented with different ways of reading religious texts. The course addresses questions regarding the texts' creation and function and provides knowledge about the contexts in which the texts were created and used. A central question is: What is the relationship between the texts in the three traditions, and what overlapping traditions exist?

have knowledge of various aspects of the relationship between holy texts in Judaism, Christianity and Islam

have knowledge about literary historical questions concerning the texts' creation, genre and function

have knowledge about questions related to the canonization of texts in Judaism, Christianity and Islam

Upon completion of the course the students shall

Examination requirements
Preliminary test must be passed. Students in the teacher education: Practice must be completed and passed. Further information when semester starts.
Teaching methods
Lectures. Practice for students in the teacher education.The workload is estimated to 270 hours.
