This course will provide the students an understanding of the theoretical frameworks and academic debates around team management in the cultural- and creative industries. This implies an understanding of basic theories on the management of teams, as well as more specifically on how teams in the cultural sector works. A special focus will be placed special on core-competences needed in the creative industries and the aesthetic and artistic considerations needed in these industries, hence differing it from the more classical teachings on team-management.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course, the student should:

be able to structure and manage a team within the creative industries, by using the necessary academic tools.

be able to assess team-performance and suggest appropriate measures for improvement

have a solid understanding of the particular position of aesthetics in the creative industries and how these features impact the dynamics and logics of teams in this sector

have a practical understanding of working in and managing a team

be familiar with managing complex situations

understand important ethical issues in team- and project management
Examination requirements
80% mandatory attendance. Two group assignments must be approved. Additional information about the examination requirement is available in Canvas.
Teaching methods
The teaching will be closely linked to practical cases and the students¿ experiences from internships during the program. The course will use lectures and group work, as well as practical exercises around projects/and or internships. Estimated workload is about 200 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written group report (50% of the grade). The group as a whole is graded. One individual written report (50% of the grade).
Grading by letters (A-E for pass and F for failure). Additional information about the assessment is available in Canvas.
