Course contents

Students work a half years of work with the thesis under supervision. The task should be selected in the field of science education, thus not a purely natural science task. The thesis may be an analysis of a science didactic problem, which may include exploration in practice. The thesis can be a major in a natural science or science history courses with relevance to teaching. The task can also be directed towards teaching in classroom, laboratory or field. Master's thesis is an independent study with normal level of scientific production.

Learning outcomes

After completing the thesis, students will be able to design issues that are of importance for science education, analyze and explore these and present the results in a scientific way.

Teaching methods

Students are given guidance in the work of the task. The extent and form of guidance will vary depending on the task type. Normally, students will have regular supervision meetings totaling 10-15 hours of which 10 hours is mandatory. It entered into a contract for supervision and implementation of the thesis.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
