Course contents

Course includes:

  • analysis and review of relevant works and literature of instrumental methodology

  • work with problem solving methods and challenges for the instrument

  • identifying and defining technical parameters for the instrument

  • identifying physiological aspects relevant for the instrument

  • work in a systematic manner with understanding and application of terms related to instrumental methodology

  • supervised professional training using students from schools of music and performing arts focussing on instrumental problem solving

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students shall:

  • be able to define achievements, make plans and facilitate instrumental development

  • have an overview of relevant works and literature of instrumental methodology

  • be able to develop and apply methods in teaching situations

  • be able to analyse and correct instrumental problems at different levels

  • be able to plan and facilitate instrumental development

  • be able to define specific achievments at different levels

Examination requirements

Recognized attendance for the lessons.

Teaching methods

The course is conducted through individual lessons and group lessons. Attending the lessons is compulsory.

Expected workload for an average student is 27 hours per credit.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
