Course contents

Hydraulic pumps and motors; Common hydraulic valves; Control of the actuator motion; Multi-actuator systems; Steady-state and dynamic modeling of hydraulic systems; Systematic specification and design of hydraulic systems.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the students will be able to:

  • Understand the functionality of essential hydraulic components and systems;

  • Set up both steady-state and dynamic models of hydraulic systems;

  • Use mathematical models to analyze the functioning of hydraulic systems;

  • Select the right components to achieve the desired system performance.

Teaching methods

Lectures, tutorials, and a project that will be done individually.

Evaluation

Course evaluation is carried out as a midterm evaluation in accordance with standard procedure in the quality assurance system, chapter 2.1.1., unless other information is given in the beginning of the semester.

Assessment methods and criteria

The examination is divided into two mandatory parts:

  • A written exam that counts 60% of the final grade;

  • An individual project that counts 40% of the final grade.
