Course contents
Students work individually on their master thesis. The thesis can be an analysis of a problem in Matehematics Education and can consist of empirical work in schools. The master thesis can also be a study of a problem in mathematics or history of mathematics with relevans in teaching. Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the thesis, the student should be able to demonstrate a critical awareness of the problems and challenges in mathematics education, use appropriate scientific methodology to develop new knowledge and understanding in mathematics education and present the results in a scientific way.

Teaching methods
The students work on their dissertation under supervision, although they plan their work individually and make use of library resources and other similar resources. 20 hours of compulsory supervision. An agreement is signed for the supervision and accomplishment of the master thesis. For students writing in pairs a separate contract is written for the collaboration. The workload of the course is 1600 hours.
Assessment methods and criteria
Master thesis individually or in pairs, with at individual adjusting oral defense. One grade is given based on examination of the written thesis and one final grade is given after the oral defence. Minimum 24 hours in advance of the oral defence, an announcement is given wheter the written thesis is examined with pass or fail. Both the grade based on only examination of the written master thesis ant he grade after the oral examination will be announced after the oral examination. Graded assessment.
