Norwegian.Course contents
This course gives an overview of the legal system and an introduction to basic legal principles, legal methods and Human Rights in Norwegian law. Law regarding government administration and use of information (confidentiality and non-confidentiality) will be discussed. Main emphasis will be on regulations regarding benefits and services in the welfare system, including applicants¿ rights and duties. Main legal areas are social law, children law and health law. Regulations regarding use of coercive means will also be discussed.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:

describe and apply legal methods and basic principles of public law.

apply the laws concerning proceedings and treatment of information in governmental administration.

apply the laws concerning benefits and services in the welfare administration in a morally responsible manner.

demonstrate knowledge of the regulations regarding use of coercive means in welfare administration.

identify legal aspects of complex welfare related problems.
Examination requirements
Approved compulsory assignment (may be handed in individually or in groups of up till five students). More information in Canvas at the start of the semester.
Teaching methods
Lectures and group work. Estimated workload is about 400 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

5-hour written examination with letter grades.
