An introduction to concepts and methods in IT strategy work and some business economic issues concerning the administration of information systems in an organization.
Review of a a few key ICT systems and how they are incorporated into an organization.
The relationship between the company's overall strategy and IT strategy.
Brief introduction to cost analysis.
Learning outcomes
On completion the students should:
Have an understanding of what Information Systems are and their place in modern organizations, and how IT strategy interacts with the organization's strategy.
Understand what it takes to organize and manage an IT department in an organization.
Be able to justify the need for, plan and implement IT solutions in an organization
Examination requirements
Compulsory exercises must be approved in order to take the examination. An overview of compulsory exercises is given at the beginning of the semester in Canvas.
Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, reflection and guidance in connection with group projects. Great emphasis is placed on cooperation in groups.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.

Higher Education Entrance Qualification including mathematics R1 and R2 and physics Fysikk 1, or a pass in the preliminary course examination for engineers (which is also offered at University of Agder).
Assessment methods and criteria
Project work in a group where the groups are given joint grades. Graded assessment.
