The topic of the master¿s thesis should be relevant to schools and the subject of physical education, and may be related to ongoing research at the Faculty of health ¿ and sports science.
Supervision is an essential component in the work with the master¿s thesis. Supervision will ensure that the student is provided with essential knowledge, and implies a necessary quality assurance of the collection and processing of data, and that the process of collection and processing is conducted according to research-ethical guidelines. Supervision is therefore a compulsory part of the course.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the students will:

Be able to document knowledge and quality assurance of the collection and processing of data used for the master¿s thesis

Be able to document insight into and understanding of the theoretical foundation as well as the methodology applied in the master¿s thesis

Be able to explain methodological challenges and scientific problems related to the research they have done

Approved participation at tutorials

Approved and signed contract of supervision

Passed all other courses in the study programme before the master¿s thesis is submitted
Teaching methods
The work method is individual supervision and compulsory attendance is required for at least 10 tutorials. The students will have supervision as specified in an individual contract of supervision.
Estimated work load is 1200 hours.
It is preferred that students have a PC or Mac available during the course.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria
The master¿s thesis can be an individual piece of work or can be carried out in groups of maximum three students. The student(s) receive(s) a graded mark for the submitted thesis, which can be adjusted one mark up or down after an individual oral examination.
During the adjusting oral examination the student will to begin with give a presentation of the master¿s thesis and then participates in a dialogue about the thesis with the examiner(s). The adjusting oral examination will usually take about an hour; 20-30 minutes presentation and 30-40 minutes dialogue included.
