Course contents
Theoretical topics:

Didactics with emphasis on pupil diversity and adapted teaching, assessment, use of the basic skills and interdisciplinary work

Life saving theory
-
Motor development and learning
Practical topics:
-
Beginner training and further progression in a selection of sports and movement activities such as gymnastics, skating, frisbee and motor skills

Activity and learning in nature
-
Life rescue in water
The subject in practice
During the practice period, the students will plan, implement and reflect upon a physical exercise session conducted during the practice period where the focus is on student diversity and adapted teaching.

Skills
On successful completion of the course, the student will:

be able to perform life rescue in water

be able to, based on his / her own skills and knowledge, use varied teaching methods in physical education that promotes the joy of movement in play, sports, outdoor life and varied forms of movement

be able to plan, carry out and evaluate the teaching of physical education according to laws and regulations, current curriculum, and professional ethical guidelines

be able to identify dangerous situations, assess and maintain the safety of the pupils in various activities and the movement environment indoors and outdoors
-
be able to include the basic skills in teaching on the subject's premises
-
be able to assess the pupils' bodily learning and qualifications as a basis for adapted teaching

be able to explore and reflect upon his/her own bodily expressions and movement experiences

be able to assess the pupils' goal achievement, justify the assessments and facilitate the pupils' self-assessment
General competence
On successful completion of the course, the student will:

be able to understand and develop his/her own teacher professionalism in the subject physical education

Teaching methods
Teaching will be given as lectures, group work, theoretical and practical work. Digital tools are used by both teachers and students where it is natural. Otherwise, student-active work methods are used, such as presentations and teaching each other.
Estimated student workload is approx. 400 hours. Teaching is compulsory. A minimum of 80 per cent attendance is required for the practical teaching. A minimum of 70 per cent attendance is required for other education.
15 days of practice for primary school teacher students is included. Other students will perform a didactic work of similar scope.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Admission requirements are completed teacher education.
Assessment methods and criteria
The examination is divided into two parts:

A graded individual practical-oral exam where the oral part is based on the practical implementation and theory. Weighted 50%.

A graded three-day individual home exam within the theoretical topics. Weighted 50%.
