Learning outcomes
On completing the course, the student will

Have aquired broad knowledge about basic concepts in physics such as position, velocity, acceleration for both particles and extended bodies with planar and 3D motion

Have acquired broad knowledge about forces and laws of motion: Newtons laws, conservation laws for energy, linear and angular momentum

Have acquired basic knowledge about laws and principles governing thermodynamics.

Have an understanding of the basic electronic and optical properties of condensed matter

Have basic skills in using digital tools in physics

Be capable of utilizing basic laws of physics for analyzing problems in engineering
Examination requirements
Submission of compulsory assignments with satisfactory results. Information on compulsory assignments will be given at the start of the semester.
Teaching methods
Lectures and problem solving classes
Admission Requirement if given as Single Standing Module
Higher Education Entrance Qualification including mathematics R1 and R2 and physics 1, or a pass in the preliminary course examination for engineers (which is also offered at University of Agder).
Assessment methods and criteria
Individual written exam, 4 hours. Graded assessment.
