Course contents

The course further develops the theoretical basis provided in FR-121 French Language 1. Instruction focuses on morphological, syntactical, semantic and pragmatic aspects of the construction of words, phrases, sentences and texts. Various activities, for example translating and writing summaries, will be used to train students in their practical usage of French.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course students will be able to

  • correctly express themselves in French

  • explain their choices from a grammatical perspective

  • write in different genres

  • translate basic texts from Norwegian to French

Examination requirements

For major students: a resumé or a translation. For students on integrated teacher training programme with master's degree: passed practice.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.

Assessment methods and criteria

  • 4-hour written examination in grammar (no examination support material is allowed) counts 2/3 towards the final grade.

  • 3-hour written examination in practical usage (you are allowed to use the dictionary "Le Petit Robert I" eller "Le Micro-Robert") counts 1/3 towards the final grade.
