The course deals with the philosophy of technology. The three most relevant questions to be discussed cover three main areas: (i) What is technology? (ii) What is the relation between humans and technology? (iii) What kind of new philosophical questions arise as a consequence of today’s digital technology? Special attention will be paid to artificial intelligence. We will read both historical and contemporary texts.

Examination requirements
Students must have participated at the compulsory gathering (3-4 days) during the semester, submitted two preliminary tests, and completed at least one tutorial (digital). For dates and further information, see Canvas.
Teaching methods
The course is digital with one physical gathering, digital lectures, short and long written assignments, web-based discussions both individual and in groups, and supervision.
The workload is estimated at 270 hours.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
One short article (400-800 words), counts 10 %
One longer article (about 5000 words), counts 90 %

All examinations are individual.
