Prerequisites

The content of the course must be approved by the PhD program committee for natural sciences PECNAT at the Department of Natural Sciences.

Course contents

The course will include selected topics from a relevant and documented fulfilled summer school/intensive course or similar.

Learning outcomes

This course is designed to extend experiences from a relevant summer school/intensive course or similar taken at a university or institution outside UiA with in-depth focus on a selected topic relevant to the candidates PhD project and/or research interest.

After completing the course, the student is expected to:

  • have good knowledge about the state-of-the-art within the addressed topic

  • be able to discuss and argue using the concepts of the topic

  • understand the connection of the topic with related state-of-the-art topics

  • have in-depth understanding of applications related to this topic

  • apply the understanding of the topic to a research theme related to the students own specialization area

be able to collect more relevant information in the selected topic

Examination requirements

The content of the course must be approved by the PhD program committee for natural sciences, PECNAT at the Department of Natural Sciences.

Teaching methods

This is a self-study course based on the content of a summer school/intensive course or similar including preparation of a 45 minutes oral presentation.

Assessment methods and criteria

The examination includes the 45 minutes oral presentation in front of an invited audience and the sensors. Pass (A, B) / fail
