Course contents

Basic topics in plant anatomy and physiology, low- and high-ranking plant classification and morphology.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:

• Give a survey of the essential features of plant systematic and taxonomy

• Give a statement of plant morphology, anatomy and physiology of the principle groups of plants, with special reference to Scandinavian groups

• Identify a selected number of plant species/groups

 

Examination requirements

A satisfactory completion of the field work, laboratory exercises and reports is required before the student is allowed to take the final examination.

Teaching methods

Instruction is comprised of lectures, laboratory exercises and field work. The students are required to participate actively in the laboratory exercises and field work and submit compulsory reports. A one week field course abroad may be arranged. The field course will be arranged together with BIO103.

The course has an expected scope of work of 270 hours.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
