A completed bachelor’s degree. In addition; 60 ECTS credits, including ME-423 Research Methods, must be successfully completed in the master’s programme in order to be assigned a supervisor for the master's thesis.
Course contents
In the last semester students write a master's thesis worth 30 ECTS credits. The topic may be selected by the student, contact persons in the business community or faculty members. However, the student must formulate the final research question under guidance from the supervisor. In terms of form and contents, the thesis is expected to have a tight coupling between its theoretical foundation and scientific method. The thesis should also include an analytical approach and normally an empirical analysis of the research question. The student should follow academic standards and norms with respect to research and reporting.

Examination requirements
Two mandatory meetings with supervisor and approved oral presentation.
Teaching methods
The thesis is usually written in groups of two students. Students who wish to write their master's thesis individually must apply for this. The students receive guidance specified in a separate supervision contract. Estimated workload is about 810 hours.
At the beginning of the last semester and as part of the guidance process students participate in a seminar focusing on the research process and how to communicate findings and results to different audiences.
It is possible to deliver the master's thesis in both spring and autumn semesters. Students who submit their master's thesis in autumn will not be offered a master's thesis seminar, as this is only offered in the spring semester. The censoring deadline for master’s theses is 6 weeks from submission.

Master's thesis counts for 100% of the grade. Grading by letters.
