Course contents

The course gives a specialization in the current complex situation with regard to world-views in Norway. Religious diversity is described and discussed, and the course will deal with both the diversity of traditions and also about their internal diversity. Questions related to extensiveness, creed and practice will be included. Religion has been given increased attention in Norwegian society as well as in the rest of the western world. The course, therefore, discusses the mutual influence between society and religion, and the question about religion’s place in the public room and in school. Ethical conflicts originating from diverging world-views as they are expressed in society and school will be important. The course is founded on the disciplines religious sociology, religious science and religious pedagogy.
