Course contents

The course provides an introduction to design theory as a basis for conducting a needs analysis for the development of secure information systems and a relevant methodology for this type of system development projects.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • conduct a needs analysis for information system security

  • apply design theory for the design of security architecture

  • plan and implement the development of secure information systems

Examination requirements

Approved compulsory submissions, in addition to compulsory participation in lectures and discussions. More detailed information is provided in Canvas at the start of the semester.

Teaching methods

The course is given in the form of seminars that include lectures, exercises, and group work. Parts of the teaching are compulsory, detailed information about this is given in Canvas at the beginning of the semester. The total expected scope of work is estimated at approx. 210 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

3 hours individual written exam that counts 60% and portfolio submissions (project works in groups and group grades) that counts 40%. Further information is provided in Canvas. Graded grade.
