Course contents
Introduction to the elements of hydraulics and hydrology used in the design of hydro power plants. Describe plant parts and hydraulic system components at small and large hydro power plants. Hydraulics: Water properties, energy equation, continuity equation, pipe flow, channel flow, pressure surge and reservoirs.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should

have knowledge on the elements of hydraulics and hydrology used in the design of hydro power plants

make calculations that are part of the pre-planning of small hydro power plants

participate in the assessment of rebuilding of major hydroelectric power plants
Teaching methods
Lectures and exercises. Excursion to hydro power plants.
The expected workload for the average student is 27 hours per credit.
Evaluation
