Knowledge

  • demonstrates broad knowledge of communication, interaction and collaboration, and of how language and culture affect this

  • demonstrates knowledge of interdisciplinary, interprofessional and cross-sectoral collaboration between and across companies and levels

  • is familiar with political and administrative decision-making processes, the most common models for organizing and managing welfare services, and the role of the social educator as a health and social policy actor

  • demonstrates knowledge of how society is built up, functions and changes, and how individuals' behavior and situation are affected by the society they are part of

  • demonstrates knowledge of the health and welfare system, current laws and regulations and guidelines in the health and social sector

Teaching methods

Teaching methods include lectures, supervised group work, assignment writing, work requirements, presentations and self-study. There is compulsory teaching in the subject. Estimated student workload is 270 hours.

Evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam consists of a portfolio. The folder is handed in as a group answer. The folder must contain two student works:

1. Service organization

2. Health and social policy

An overall assessment is given as passed / failed. All three student papers must be assessed as passed in order for the exam to be considered a total pass. A common grade is determined for the group. See the subject booklet on Canvas for a more detailed description.
