Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student must:

Knowledge

  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of the social educator's role and function in collaboration with other professions.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of interdisciplinary, interprofessional and cross-sectoral collaboration between and across companies and levels

  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge of inclusion, equality and non-discrimination, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion and outlook on life, culture, disability, diagnosis, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and age, so that the candidate contributes to ensuring equal services for all groups in society .

  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of the relationship between disability and disability, and how disability barriers can be reduced.

  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of self-determination and user participation.

  • Demonstrate broad knowledge of the life situation of people with developmental disabilities in an individual and societal perspective.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of how society is built up, functions and changes, and how individuals' behavior and situation are affected by the society of which they are a part.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of how social inequality and social problems such as neglect, violence, abuse, bullying, drug and socio-economic problems affect health, living conditions and quality of life ".

  • Be familiar the Samis' rights, and demonstrate knowledge of and understanding of the Samis' status as an indigenous people, especially in the health and social field.

  • Know the rights of minorities, and have knowledge of and understanding of their status as a minority.

  • Be able to update his/her knowledge within the subject area in line with knowledge-based practice.

  • Be able to apply professional knowledge to initiate and contribute to interdisciplinary, interprofessional and cross-sectoral collaboration.

  • Be able to apply professional knowledge to implement necessary measures, and / or treatment of social problems or refer further if necessary.

  • Be able to apply professional knowledge to promote inclusion, equality and participation in all parts of society and in a life course perspective.

Teaching methods

Teaching methods include lectures, supervised group work, presentation, exercises, work requirements and self-study. There is compulsory teaching in the subject. Estimated student workload is 270 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

A 4-hour individual written school examination.Graded assessment.
