A survey of Norwegian history, the Norwegian school system, Norwegian language and literature, Norwegian society – economy and politics, Norwegian culture with an emphasis on music, art and religion in Norway
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be capable of the following:
- describe various aspects of Norwegian society from both historical and contemporary perspectives
- analyse different explanations regarding developments in Norway
- describe similarities and differences between society and culture in Norway and in the student’s home country
- distinguish between political, economic, cultural and environmental factors when certain societal systems are delineated and discussed
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
5-hour written examination. Graded assessment.
