The student

Knowledge

  •  demonstrates thorough knowledge about anaesthesia and anaesthesia nursing to different patient groups, elective and emergency patients

  • demonstrates thorough knowledge about anaesthesia for children and is able to provide anaesthesia nursing care to children

  • demonstrates thorough knowledge about the nurse anaesthetist's tasks and responsibilities in emergency situations

  • demonstrates thorough knowledge about examinations and treatment outside the ward

Skills

  • is able to analyse and evaluate collected patient information

  • is able to administer anaesthesia and anaesthesia nursing care in emergency situations in cooperation with the practice placement supervisor and an anaesthesiologist

  • is able to administer anaesthesia and provide anaesthesia nursing care during large operations as well as examinations and treatment outside the ward in cooperation with the practice placement supervisor and an anaesthesiologist

  • is able to administer general and regional anaesthesia for minor and middle range operations independently in cooperation with an anaesthesiologist

  • is able to provide anasthesia nursing care in emergency situations in coperation with the practice placement supervisor

  • is able to administer anaesthesia and anaesthesia nursing care to children in cooperation with the practice placement supervisor and an anaesthesiologist

  • is able to position patients for various operations in cooperation with other professionals

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

The clinical studies are assessed as Pass/Fail. For the clinical studies to be assessed as Pass, the student must fulfill the attendance requirement (90%).

The student must have the following requirements approved:

  • Submitted two reflection notes

  • Participated in two reflection groups

  • Participated in placement theory days

The clinical studies are assessed at mid-term and final assessment periods. Please refer to the separate assessment form.
