Knowledge

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of, can apply, reflect and analyze the intensive care nurse's duties, role, function and responsibilities regardless of the type of department and patient group

  • Is able to apply and analyze advanced knowledge about the reception of patients who are traumatized and / or have cardiac arrest

  • Is able to apply and analyze advanced knowledge of clinical and systematic observation, assessment, planning, measures and evaluation to new and unknown patient groups

  • Is able to apply and analyze advanced knowledge about drugs and drug administration in the intensive care unit

  • Is able to use and analyze oral and written documentation properly

  • Is able to apply and analyze advanced knowledge of the most common medical technical equipment in the department

  • Is able to apply and analyze advanced knowledge of infection prevention and hygiene principles

  • Is able to apply and analyze knowledge of team communication

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

The clinical studies are assessed as Pass/Fail. For the clinical studies to be assessed as Pass, the student must fulfill the attendance requirement (90%).

The student must have the following requirements approved:

  • Submitted two reflection notes

  • Participated in two reflection groups

  • Participated in practice theory days

The clinical studies are assessed at mid-term and final assessment periods. Please refer to the separate assessment form.
