Course contents

  • Supervised clinical studies in mental health care

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will:

  • be able to meet the patient¿s basic needs through observation, assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of nursing

  • be able to apply knowledge about disease, treatment, and surroundings affect the patient¿s health condition when planning and practicing nursing

  • be able to learn how to use an individual plan

  • be able to identify the patient¿s resources and mastering abilities

  • be able to make use of user involvement and enable the patient to contribute when practicing the service

  • be able to practice therapeutic interaction and milieu therapy

  • be able to apply knowledge about pharmacology and handling of drugs

  • show an understanding of the importance of relatives for patients¿ health and quality of life and be able to cooperate with patients and relatives

  • be able to participate in interdisciplinary cooperation

  • be able to apply current documentation ¿ and mapping tools in patient treatment

  • have knowledge about health legislation and practice nursing within its framework

  • be able to participate in inter professional cooperation

  • be able to identify ethical problems and express ethical considerations

  • kunne reflektere over egen faglig utøvelse og progresjon

  • ha innsikt i samhandling mellom kommunehelsetjenesten og spesialisthelsetjenesten

 

  • be able to reflect upon one¿s own professional practice and progression

  • have insight into the interaction between the community health services and the specialist health services

Examination requirements

Course requirements must be passed for the course to be passed.

During the 4th semester the student must also have attended the mandatory first-aid course.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

Clinical studies are assessed with pass/fail. There is 90 % compulsory attendance in the clinical studies and 90 % compulsory attendance in the simulation practice.
