Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will:

  • be able to apply knowledge on how health failure and surroundings may influence patients` abilities to attend to basic needs

  • be able to attend to the patient`s basic needs through the observation, assessment, planning, carrying out, evaluation, and documentation of nursing

  • be able to cooperate with the patient and relatives and show respect for their experiences, integrity, and rights

  • be able to apply current documentation tools

  • have insight into legislation and regulations which regulate the handling of drugs, and be able to handle drugs under supervision

  • show a responsible attitude regarding professional secrecy

  • be able perform relevant procedures independently

  • be able to perform lifesaving heart and lung procedures (BHLR)

  • be able to reflect upon their own professional performance and progression

Examination requirements

Requirements for starting clinical studies:

  • Skills development with approved test

  • Performed lifesaving heart and lung procedures

  • Signed a declaration of secrecy

In addition course requirements must be passed for the course to be passed.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

Clinical studies have 90 % compulsory attendance and are assessed with pass/fail.
