Upon successful completion of the course, students will:

be able to describe the foundation for nursing as a profession and occupation

have knowledge about human beings¿ basic needs and insight in professional nursing problems when health failure influences the needs

have knowledge about patients¿ and relatives¿ experience of and reactions to illness and suffering

have insight in the role of the nurse in the cooperation with patients and relatives

be able to give an account of principles of hygiene, infection prevention and infection control

have knowledge about clinical assessment processes and problem solving in nursing

have knowledge about documentation in nursing

ha knowledge about the handling of drugs

be able to describe ethical and legal aspects of the professional secrecy

Assessment methods and criteria
A graded 5-hour individual written examination.
