Teaching methods

The teaching will be characterized by varied forms of work, given in the form of lectures, practice and guidance, excursions, conversation, reflection, role-playing, interviewing, presentations, preparation of teaching plans and other practical exercises. Practical testing of different forms of work related to social science and the teaching role will be central.

Besides teaching, students are expected to work on assignments, individually and in groups. A significant part of the students' learning and maturation will take place through such self-effort.

The student shall undertake an interdisciplinary task with teaching.

During the semester, the student will plan a research project and prepare a plan for carrying out the research work (research design). The plan shall contain a problem, an indication of relevant theory, as well as methods and arrangements for data collection.

As the subject is part of practical pedagogical education, it requires the student's actual participation in practical exercises that are part of the teaching. There will therefore be a requirement for compulsory participation in the education, including the start-up course, and in supervision.

Students will have six weeks of practice, primarily in lower primary school.

The expected workload in the subject is approx. 400 hours.
