Course contents

  • Revenues and costs in the firm

  • Break-even analysis

  • Financial statement analysis and valuations, including budgets

  • Basic concepts of investment and finance (Net Present Values and WACC)

  • Basic laws and regulations relevant for corporations

  • Balance of Payments and Monetary and Fiscial policies

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course the student should:

  • be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of managerial economics

  • be familiar with and understand major concepts related to corporate accounting, budgeting, finance and marketing

  • have acquired a certain amount of knowledge in macroeconomics and economic policies (fiscal and monetary policies)

Examination requirements

Approved compulsory assignment. More info in Canvas at the start of the semester.

Teaching methods

Lectures and seminars. The course is taught in Norwegian. Estimated workload is about 135 hours.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

3-hour written examination with gletter grades.
