The course will discuss different ways of working that contributes to improve the circumstances and quality of life for groups at risk. The students should understand how to mobilize the resources of groups at risk, planning and implement measures that contributes to reducing social problems for groups in society and in the local community. Co-operation with users, their families and the third sector are central.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course the students will have:

knowledge and skills in the work process of social group work

knowledge and understanding of the role of the group leader and use of co-leadership

understanding about different forms of group-work in relation to users and with collaborating partners

consciousness about different ways of thinking within different methods in group work
-
knowledge about different methods of community work, for example in organisations, co- operation with other professionals in projects and in social housing work

be able to mobilize for common solutions and for working against feelings of powerlessness and meaninglessness
Teaching methods
Lectures and seminars, teacher - assisted professional skill development and participation in leading groups. Mandatory attendance in some sessions, for further details please consult course schedule.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written group assignment. Graded as pass or fail. Pass is equivalent to a D.
