All the other courses included in the programme must be completed and passed before the thesis can be submitted.
Course contents
The thesis is to be an independent, scientific work with an academic or didactic topic. The master’s thesis may be a continuation of the bachelor’s thesis or it may be based on empirical data collected during the practice period, or knowledge from previous courses in the programme. The students will be part of the programme’s academic community by actively participating at seminars and mentoring relationships.
Learning outcomes
Through the work with the master’s thesis the students shall

Learn to apply thesis questions, theory and method within the chosen topic

Get training in using scientific methods

Be able to present an independent contribution to the academic field
Examination requirements

A draft for the thesis must be approved.

The attendance requirements at the seminars with extract discussions must be met.

At least one presentation of an extract of the thesis at a seminar, and at least one prepared comment to a fellow student’s presentation.

Teaching methods
Seminars. Individual tutorials/supervision (10-12 hours). At least one presentation of an extract from the thesis and at least comment to one of the fellow-student’s presentations at a seminar. Seminars with presentations and discussions about the extracts are compulsory.
The workload is estimated to 1200 hours.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
Assessment methods and criteria
Master's thesis. When the thesis has been assessed, there will be an oral examination which may adjust the final grade.
