A minimum of 40 credits in religion and ethics at Level 1 or the equivalent
Course contents
The bachelor's thesis is to be a small-scale research project, an independent discussion of a specific topic. Students must clarify in their thesis the subject area/areas on which they are writing. Theses may be written in all the disciplines and topics encountered by students in the bachelor study programme Religion, Ethics and Culture's area of concentration.
Students' theses must refer to sources in accordance with accepted scholarly practice.
Students read a general syllabus of 150 pages discussing among other things problem formulation, literature search, thesis writing and reasoning. The remainder of the syllabus is directly connected to the thesis and includes specific subject literature, method literature as well as source material on the chosen topic.
Learning outcomes
Upon course completion students will be able to:

plan and complete a basic R&D project related to one or more subject areas that has been dealt with in the bachelor¿s programme

demonstrate understanding of the basic methodological requirements typical for this kind of R&D work
Examination requirements
Approved project outline.
A brief oral presentation of the R&D project must be completed and approved.
2 sessions of individual supervision. Further information when semester starts.
Teaching methods
Seminars and two compulsory sessions of academic supervision. The workload is estimated to about 270 hours.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
