Course contents

The students shall, through a practice period at an institution, an organisation or an enterprise get insight into and participate in the running activities at this workplace. Emphasis is placed on the students’ possibility to test and apply their specialist knowledge during the practice period.

The practice will normally take place in enterprises that have an agreement with the Department of Pedagogy, but the students may exceptionally and on application take the practice elsewhere.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the practice period, the students shall:

  • Have knowledge about the premises and background of the enterprise

  • Be able to plan and implement work tasks related to the practice activities

  • Be able to apply relevant subject knowledge from the master’s programme in the form of theories, methods or terminology in order to carry out, develop or evaluate work tasks in the practice enterprise

  • Be able to reflect on the relation between theory and practice based on experiences from the practice period

Examination requirements

The practice period must be completed and accredited by the practice enterprise. The approval is conditional upon no more than 20% documented absence during the practice period.

Teaching methods

Practice period in the scope of a minimum of 6 weeks. The student shall, if possible, have only one supervisor at the workplace during the entire practice period. Upon completion of the practice, the student shall write a report.

The workload is estimated at 400 hours, including 85 hours for the report.

Evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.

Assessment methods and criteria

Practice report of 10-15 pages and which includes reflection on the relation between theory and practice. Assessment: Pass/fail.
