Course contents

The course provides insight into central concepts such as counselling, advisement and consultation, including discussion with respect to possible conflicts arising between individual, societal and professional needs and objectives. Insight is also provided into various theoretical approaches to counseling and advisement as well as experience with practical approaches to counseling and advisement tasks. Emphasis is placed on students¿ development of an analytical and reflective viewpoint regarding these various approaches as well as adapting methods and strategies to changing contexts. The course focuses especially on educational-psychological counselling in theory and practice; this topic will be highlighted from both individual and system-based perspectives. This focus also includes theoretical and practical approaches to various professional conversations. Moreover, within all of these main course components, emphasis is placed on discussing ethical dilemmas which may arise during counselling and advisement sessions.
