Course contents

This course will give students a basis for teaching in compulsory secondary classes (8-13), vocational subjects in upper secondary school and to supervise pupils in connection to work place training. The course focuses on teaching and learning of work specific tasks and functions, furthermore it will give students the ability to develop their competence in planning, organization, carrying through, assessing, documenting and to critical analyse teaching in their own vocational subject/program. Teaching consists of both cognitive and affective factors, like motivation, attitudes, identity and emotions. The vocational teacher has to relate to two fields of practise - the teacher profession and their own profession. At a central place in this course stands learning- and development work, professional knowledge. Insight into the work didactic field and research gives competence in preparing for their own practise and the schools activities and to build systematic research- and development work in school and in different workplaces.
